 Product Format: String Orchestra
Bach and Before For Strings is a collection of 19 four-part chorales, easily tailored to all string ensembles. Because each part book includes all four voice parts (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass) there are unlimited opportunities to introduce unison playing to the string orchestra. Unison playing is the most efficient way to improve the overall quality of a string orchestra's sound, and is the foundation of playing in-tune. When a string orchestra plays in unison, it is playing in several octaves simultaneously, and in-tune octaves are the very basis of superior intonation! In addition to this, as the voice parts are individually rehearsed and learned, the students discover that all voice parts of a chorale are important. When played in four-part harmony, the chorales become naturally expressive, because all students know all four parts and they understand which voice should predominate at any given time. Students love playing chorales, because they sound so good! The chorales range in difficulty from very easy to very sophisticated and are suitable for year two through high school string orchestras. This is the perfect book for helping students master the important concepts of chorale performance. This product has a difficulty rating of 2-3 on a scale of 1 to 6 with 6 being the hardest. A piano accompaniment is available. This piece was published by Neil A. Kjos Music Company. |
